Sew In Take Down

Well it's been about 3 weeks, maybe a little over and my sew in is out. I know the original plan was to keep it in for 2 months but I missed my hair and wanted to take it out sooner, honestly. I'm currently 5 months post working towards my 6th month and hadn't combed my hair in 3 weeks due to the sew in. Detangling wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it did take an hour and a half to completely detangle my hair. The steps I took are as followed:

  1. Removed the tracks of course
  2. Saturated my hair with moisturizer, detangler, and coconut oil
  3. Applied a shower cap and conditioning cap and sat under the heating cap for about 20 minutes or so
  4. Proceeded to detangle my hair one braid at a time
  5. Once I detangled all of my hair I sectioned it in 4 sections and combed it through again
  6. Braided four sections and put my bonnet on
The following day I:
  1. Did a protein treatment using mayo and eggs
  2. Washed my hair thoroughly with Giovanni Tea Tree shampoo
  3. Used V05 Clarifying conditioner
  4. Rinsed excess water out and applied Silicon Mix
  5. Washed silicon mix out with Giovanni Tea Tree conditioner
  6. Did an ACV rinse and rinsed
  7. Cowashed with Aussie Moist
  8. Applied leave ins and placed in a wet bun
I enjoyed the sew in it was a nice change and I will consider doing another one but for now I'm moving on to Half wigs. I'll have a review on the hair that I used coming soon. Enjoy the pictures and have a Happy New Year.

New Protective Style

Your girl has a new style going on and its one that is still growing on me slowly but surely. I decided to go ahead and get a sew in for a protective/low manipulation style. My cousin did it for me so all I had to pay for was the hair, thank the Lord. So far I'm liking this style and I hope it lasts.

I wanted a curly style something that I could blend my natural hair with without a problem. I decided to go with Bijoux Super Platinum Jerry Curl. This is my first time using this hair so we'll have to see how this works out. I plan on doing a review on the hair once its out and I've used it for a little while. I got 2 packs of hair and they were both 10". I used pretty much all of the hair besides a small piece. I must admit that this is definitely something that I have to get use to. It is tight, extremely tight, and that's not something I'm liking but I hope it doesn't cause to much damage to my hair. The hair cost me $15.99 per pack at my local beauty supply store and it 100% human hair and tangle free (we'll see about that).

As far as the outcome I like it but I'm still working with it. I did chop it up a little bit and will probably do some more chopping until I actually love the look. I was going for big hair but I didn't quite get that with this hair, at least not yet. I fluffed it out and separated the hair so that it wouldn't look so fake and I hope as time goes on it looks more natural and gets the shape that I'm looking for.

I want to keep this in for 2 months, if possible. I'm not sure how long this hair is going to last so we'll see. I definitely want to keep this in for the longest amount of time with the least amount of damage. Today is day two and its still a bit tight and uncomfortable so I have to work on that as well. If I'm able to keep this style in for 2 months it would be a much needed break from my hair.

In a nutshell my hair regimen with this sew in is to spritz it daily with my mixture of water, aloe vera juice, and peppermint oil about twice today. I also spray it with my moisture mist to get some moisture on my natural hair and to loosen up the braids. I apply oil to my scalp every other day. I will be washing my hair about once a week depending on how the hair holds up. The key will be to keep my hair moisturized underneath so that I don't suffer any damage with this sew in. I will also spray a protein leave in once a week to uphold my moisture/protein balance.

I like this style and hope its something that I can keep for the next two months. If I can't get 2 months out of it I'm hoping for at least 4-6 weeks. My next style will most likely be buns for a couple of weeks and then I'll start working with half wigs. The review for the hair will be up as soon as I take this hair out.

I hope that you all enjoyed this little snippet =)
